Happy New Year! Happy Reading!

Happy New Year,  Everyone! And Happy Reading!
January 1st is finally here and it's time to dig into God's Word! I am so excited to read through His Word with you this year!
Whether you are using the Holman Chronological Bible, or the reading schedule I emailed you, you will notice that every 7 days there is a 'summary' - this is a day to reflect on what you read the previous 6 days (or to catch up if you've missed a day!)
And let me suggest that if you are having trouble reading every day - don't give up! Consider reading until the story changes...for example, if you are reading about Noah and the ark, read the whole story (Genesis 6-10) - this will hold your interest better.
OR consider reading a whole book at a time. Leviticus can be a tough book for most people to read through! So consider sitting down and reading the whole book at once.
If following the chronological schedule does not work for you, that's okay! Don't quit reading! Use the blog to find how other people are doing and gain encouragement to stay in God's Word. The key is to be reading God's Word and applying it to your life!
So, come back to the blog often and leave a comment! I look forward to hearing from you!

  1. Enjoying reading and seeing things I hadn't before, like that the mountains may be barriers to keep the world from flooding again. Love how so far the scriptures relate together.

  2. So glad to hear you are enjoying your reading, Trish! It is so amazing to me how God wove the Scriptures together over so many years, so many authors, so many situations, etc. and how He promises to work all things together for our good. What an incredible God we serve!

  3. I had to take time to ponder on Ps. 8:23 - "Man goes out to his work and to his labor until evening." Thinking how our society, in general, seems to think that work should be put in a box - 8 to 4:30 - I wonder if we aren't a bit spoiled in America with our great desire for time off to play!? Not me, of course :-) - my work day often goes into the evening, but I do grumble about it sometimes (ha ha)!! Why is it so much more fun to play than work??!!

  5. Hey Robin! Thanks for posting a comment! And for blowing your Grands4 cover!! (I was wondering who that was!)
I hear you on it being more fun to play than work!! After taking a very relaxed work schedule through the Holidays to be with my kids, it was really tough getting back into the grind this morning!
I am very curious to know if our views on work and play would be different if Adam and Eve wouldn't have sinned and brought a curse on our labors.

  6. Hmmm...maybe work wouldn't seem like work - we would just be tending the garden and loving every minute of it! :-)

  7. I think you are right, Robin! I do not believe we would view work as "work". One more reason to not settle in here and to keep our eyes fixed on heaven!!
